Friends of the Library Book Sale

We need your help! In addition to table sales at each of the Clayton County Libraries, the Friends of the Library have a used book sale at the Headquarters Library each month. If you haven’t been to one, you don’t know what you are missing! You will find hundreds of books at fantastic prices and 100% of all proceeds from the sales are used to support your library system.

The library system relies greatly on proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales to continue offering special programs for all ages, educational classes, & other resources to the community. The best part is . . . with the support of the Friends, it’s all Free to you!

Right From the Start/Medicaid (RSM)

Each month on the last Saturday, a member of the Right From the Start/Medicaid (RSM) team will be at a table inside the library, near the front art display, to answer questions and/or to take initial applications for Medicaid from pregnant women and families with children.

Please note that final approval cannot be given on the day of the application, but the application process can be started. If you have general questions about Medicaid, please call the RSM office at 770 473 2605.

Each Saturday, stories will be read in both English and in Spanish. Talented bilingual volunteers will read stories in Spanish and library staff will read in English. The program will end with a craft. Free for the whole family.

Participarán estudiantes talentosas, que leerán en ambos idiomas (español e inglés). Después de la activad de lectura, los participantes harán una actividad manual. Estas actividades son gratis para toda la familia. Esta es una gran oportunidad de aprender inglés para unos y español para otros. Pueden participar desde los niños hasta los abuelos de su familia.

Help a Child Smile Mobile Dental Unit

For youth who need dental services, but who have not had opportunities to visit a dentist's office to receive those services. PeachCare, WellCare, Medicaid, and private insurance will be accepted.

Advance appointments preferred, but walk ins will be accommodated based on available appointment times. The mobile dental unit will be parked in front of the Headquarters Library, 865 Battle Creek Rd., Jonesboro. Parents will be required to complete necessary paperwork prior to their children receiving dental services.

Family Storytime for Toddlers

This program is for toddlers ages 21-36 months.

Enjoy interactive stories, songs, action verse and an extended activity. Advance registration is required but it is necessary to register ONLY ONE TIME for the entire series. You may register for a series any time, in person, by email, or by telephone. Parents must remain in the story time with their children. Series ends on August 6th.

PLEASE NOTE: This story time series is for families only and we regret that we can not permit child care groups to attend this story time series. However, the library does schedule story times on other weekdays specifically for both in-home and center child care groups. Please ask staff for scheduling details.

Digging and Diving Into the Past

From the Muskogee to the Ocmulgee…join us as we celebrate Georgia Archaeology Month and kickoff our "Dig Into Reading" Summer Reading Program. Hear Creek Native American stories told by a storyteller from Historical Jonesboro, and make a "birch bark" canoe. Groups are welcome, but MUST register in advance. This is a great field trip event for summer camps and homeschooling families. Also look at our display of Creek Indian Artifacts in the display case near the Youth Services Department.

For ages 5-15.
