Services provided FOR FREE include: assistance in career planning, Job readiness coaching, information about training opportunities, access to computer workstations, and photocopying and printing. While on the computer you may want to access the "Job and Career Accelerator" service accessible via the library's home page--a Clayton County Library card is required (a card is free but requires a photo I.D.) Job & Career Accelerator will also help you search for available jobs, prepare a resume, or determine which career might interest you. Ask staff for assistance if you have questions.
2:00 PM-4:30 PM Intro to Computers (5-Part Series)

This series of five beginning computer classes is intended for adults who have very little experience with computers. Class 1: About computer components, how to use a mouse, how to use a keyboard, how to navigate within Windows. Class 2: How to create, save, delete, organize, and search for files on a computer. Class 3: About the World Wide Web and Internet, how to use a search engine, and online safety tips. Class 4: About email and spam, how to create, send, receive, and store email messages. Class 5: How to use a word processing program to create and save documents. All classes are held in the meeting room at the Headquarters Library. Spaces are limited, so reservations are required. When you sign up, you are signing up for the entire series. You may register by calling 770-473-3850 or by visiting the Information Desk at the Headquarters Library. Please be punctual, as your seat may be given to someone on the waiting list if you are not present by the time class begins. 10:00 AM-10:45 AM Family Storytime for Toddlers

Toddlers, ages 21-36 months, will enjoy interactive stories, songs, action verse and an extended activity during this story time series. Advance registration is required but it is necessary to register ONLY ONE TIME for the entire series. You may register for a series any time, in person, by email, or by telephone. Parents must remain in the story time with their children. PLEASE NOTE: This story time series is for families only and we regret that we can not permit child care groups to attend this story time series. However, the library does schedule story times on other weekdays specifically for both in-home and center child care groups. Please ask staff for scheduling details.

Free Tutoring Provided by Sylvan Learning

This tutoring will prepare students for important Georgia standardized tests such as the CRCT, End-of-Course Test (EOTC), and Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) Space is limited, parents must meet with Sylvan representatives in advance to complete paperwork. Students & their parents MUST commit to ongoing weekly tutoring; this is NOT drop-in tutoring or homework assistance. Students accepted into this tutoring series are required to meet for two hours weekly with their Sylvan tutors. Sylvan & parents will schedule tutoring appointments. Student to instructor ration is 4 to 1. A light snack will be served. For more information contact Sylvan at 888-789-7958 or email sylvanses@dcpsylvan.com. Available slots will be filled on a first come, first registered basis. Priority will be given to those students who fall under the SES(Supplemental Educational Services) guidelines. The Clayton County Library system is providing space for this tutoring as a community service. All tutoring is conducted by Sylvan Learning and all questions should be directed to them. Share crochet patterns and ideas. Beginners are welcome and should bring a size G hook and 4 ply yarn to receive instruction.
5:45 PM-8:45 PM Free Tutoring by Literacy For Youth

The Literacy for Youth Foundation, a non-profit organization with 501(c) 3 status, proposes to tutor students from grades 3rd-8th on the importance and essentials of economics, mathematics, financial literacy and reading during after school sessions and summer programs. Our foundation is also preparing our youth for standardized testing. For more information about The Literacy for Youth Foundation go to LITERACY4YOUTH. All tutoring is conducted by tutors provided by Literacy for Youth and all questions should be directed to them. These sessions will be ongoing on Tuesdays throughout the school year but will NOT meet any day that Clayton County Public Schools are not in session. THESE SESSIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and are NOT for drop-in students. 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM Citizenship Classes

This FREE class is funded by a grant from the United States Citizenship & Immigration Service designed to prepare you to pass the USCIS Citizenship Test and become a U.S. citizen. In partnership, the Jewish & Family Services provides a highly qualified teacher, textbooks and materials and a course framework. The class is designed for immigrants and refugees who have been legal permanent residents for at least five years. Students are required to have at least begineer-level English skills. Topics to be covered include U.S. History, government and civics, the naturalization process and the English vocabulary required for the USCIS Citizenship Test as well as a practice interview.
