10:00 AM-12:30 PM Intro to Computers (5-Part Series)

This series of five beginning computer classes is intended for adults who have very little experience with computers. Class 1: About computer components, how to use a mouse, how to use a keyboard, how to navigate within Windows. Class 2: How to create, save, delete, organize, and search for files on a computer. Class 3: About the World Wide Web and Internet, how to use a search engine, and online safety tips. Class 4: About email and spam, how to create, send, receive, and store email messages. Class 5: How to use a word processing program to create and save documents. All classes are held in the meeting room at the Headquarters Library. Spaces are limited, so reservations are required. When you sign up, you are signing up for the entire series. You may register by calling 770-473-3850 or by visiting the Information Desk at the Headquarters Library. Please be punctual, as your seat may be given to someone on the waiting list if you are not present by the time class begins. Free Tutoring Provided by Sylvan Learning

This tutoring will prepare students for important Georgia standardized tests such as the CRCT, End-of-Course Test (EOTC), and Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) Space is limited, parents must meet with Sylvan representatives in advance to complete paperwork. Students & their parents MUST commit to ongoing weekly tutoring; this is NOT drop-in tutoring or homework assistance. Students accepted into this tutoring series are required to meet for two hours weekly with their Sylvan tutors. Sylvan & parents will schedule tutoring appointments. Student to instructor ration is 4 to 1. A light snack will be served. For more information contact Sylvan at 888-789-7958 or email sylvanses@dcpsylvan.com. Available slots will be filled on a first come, first registered basis. Priority will be given to those students who fall under the SES(Supplemental Educational Services) guidelines. The Clayton County Library system is providing space for this tutoring as a community service. All tutoring is conducted by Sylvan Learning and all questions should be directed to them. These sessions will be ongoing throughout the school year but will NOT meet any day that Clayton County Public Schools are not in session. For directions go to RIVERDALE BRANCH LIBRARY. Make this your best school year ever! Get the help you need. Free tutoring available for reading for Clayton County resident students in grades 6 - 12. Tutoring is both group and individualized instruction with experienced tutors. Only 15 students per session. Families should commit to weekly attendance; this is not designed as a "drop-in" homework assistance series. We will cover the major problem areas that students encounter in reading to aid them in passing their class exams and prepare for standardized tests.
